Xidi Village

Xidi Village is located near Huangshan Mountain, in China’s Anhui Province. The village was founded in the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) and most of the residences in the village now date back to the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) Dynasties. The village is home to over 124 ancient residences and three ancestral halls. The stones, bricks, and wood used in the ancient homes’ construction are covered with intricate carvings, many of which tell stories. Little changes have been made in the village in the past few centuries allowing visitors to see what life was like in China’s past.

The village is encircled by green hills and two streams flow through the village. There are 2 main streets in the town with 99 lanes leading off of them. The beautiful ancient architecture combined with the natural beauty of the location make this a favorite with visitors on China tours.
