Dragon Palace Cave

Dragon Palace Cave is located in the western suburbs of Anshun in Guizhou Province. The cave is actually a spectacular underground cave system with lakes, waterfalls, all underground. The cave system occupies an area of almost 60 square kilometers. The name comes from the main cave of the system. It looks like the crystal palace where the dragon king, from Chinese mythology, lives and was given the name Dragon Palace Cave.

The cave has four main scenic spots and five groups of caves, connected by an underground river. The four scenic spots are the; Dragon Palace, the Rape Lake, the Whirlpool, and the Leech Pass. The main Dragon Palace Cave is filled with bizarre karst rock formations and inside is a 34 meter high waterfall. The waterfall falls from Tianchi Lake inside the cave. It has been described as a white dragon leaving the palace by locals. The five groups of limestone caves in the cave system are connected by an underground river, which is the longest in China at 5,000 meters in length. At its deepest point it is 28 meters deep and is 30 meters wide at its widest point. Visitors to the cave can take a boat ride down the river past the ever changing views.
