Transportation in Pingyao
By Air
Pingyao is a small county in Shanxi and there's no direct flights connect Pingyao and other cities; but travelers can flight to Taiyuan Wusu Airport (TYN) which is 90 kilometers from Pingyao ancient city. After arrival in Taiyuan airport, take taxi to Taiyuan Railway station or Taiyuan Jiannan Bus Station then take trains or buses to Pingyao for about 2 hours.
By Train
Pingyao is easily accessible from Taiyuan, Shijiazhuang. There are 4 or 5 trains from Taiyuan to Pingyao everyday while there are many travelers on the trains and there are no D-trains or high speed trains running between Taiyuan and Pingyao right now.
And most of travelers would take trains from Pingyao to Xi’an; do buy the sleeper trains when you in Taiyuan or as early as possible since it is hard to buy train ticket in Pingyao.
By Long-distance Bus / Coach
There are minibus leave Taiyuan for Pingyao for around 10 yuan, and the journey is about 2 hours; or just take long distance bus from Taiyuan Jiannan Long-distance Bus Station.
Getting around Pingyao
There's no taxi or public bus within the pingyao ancient town, but rickshaw, electrical mobile and Bicycle are the most popular vehicles to use. Bicycles can be rented at the hotel desk. As for sides outside Pingyao, renting car or taxt outside the pingyao ancient town is possible.
