Ili River Valley

Xinjiang enjoys a unique landform crisscrossed by the Altai, Tianshan and Kunlun Mountains from north to south, with two basins nestled between them. Though located deep inland, its river valley terrain creates a special climate. The region sees mild and humid summers with an average temperature over 20°C, and is blessed with breathtaking natural scenery such as the Tianshan Trail, Kalajun Grassland and the Ili River.

Surrounded by Gobi and desert on all sides, only Ili is blessed with warm sunshine, distinct four seasons, abundant rainfall and lush water pastures. Besides the magnificent Ili River Valley, the Tianshan Mountains on both sides are also breathtakingly grand.

Kalajun Grassland

The undulating Kalajun Grassland lies in the Ili River Valley. It is a World Natural Heritage site and a national 5A-level scenic spot. Known as the **Body Grassland**, it earns the name for its soft, rolling contours resembling the curves of the human body.

Hometown of Lavender

Huocheng in Ili is known as the Hometown of Lavender in China. In summer, lavender bursts into full bloom, stretching out into a vast sea of blue and purple flowers as far as the eye can see.

Sayram Lake

Known as the Last Tear of the Atlantic, Sayram Lake boasts crystal-clear turquoise water. Even at a depth of 12 meters, its azure blue remains perfectly transparent, fulfilling all your fantasies about the color blue.

With a mild climate and abundant natural resources, Ili serves as an important hub on the ancient Silk Road. The local native horses feature striking good looks and remarkable endurance, known as the Ili Heavenly Horses as Tianma.

Bagua City

In ancient China, both Buddhism and Islam were introduced along the Silk Road. Ili has long been a gathering place for diverse ethnic groups and cultures, giving rise to a rich variety of architectural styles. A representative example is the Bagua City, which was constructed based on the Eight Trigrams in The Book of Changes.
