Xinjiang enjoys a unique landform crisscrossed by the Altai, Tianshan and Kunlun Mountains from north to south, with two basins nestled between them. Though located deep inland, its river valley terrain creates a special climate. The region sees mild and humid summers with an average temperature over 20°C, and is blessed with breathtaking natural scenery such as the Tianshan Trail, Kalajun Grassland and the Ili River.
The unique geographical location of Yili has influenced the history of this land and subsequently given rise to a distinctive culture.
