Victoria Harbour

Day and night, Victoria Harbor is always busy with ferries, a few barges, boats, even an occasional sampan and more various ships. This Harbor scenery always acts as the icon of the bustling and prosperous metropolis Hong Kong. Hence Hong Kong got the fame of "Pearl of the Orient".
 
Victoria Harbor lies between the Kowloon Peninsula and the Hong Kong Island of Hong Kong.
The harbour's naturally deep, sheltered waters and strategic location on the South China Sea makes it a British colony as well as subsequently a trading center from 19th century to 1997. Throughout its history, the harbour has seen numerous reclamation projects undertaken on both shores, but still retains its founding role as a port for thousands of international vessels each year.It is the world's 3rd largest harbor and the 1st in China.

Spectacular Harbour Views
The Victoria Harbour is world-famous for its stunning panoramic night view and skyline, particularly in the direction towards Hong Kong Island where the skyline of skyscrapers is superimposed over the ridges behind. The Harbour is one of Hong Kong's greatest assets, a jewel that people marvel at, no matter how many times they visit the city. People come from all over the world to see and admire it.

Travel up to The Peak or visit the Avenue of Stars along the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade for spectacular harbour views and to catch the magnificent A Symphony of Lights, featuring more than 40 Hong Kong's skyscrapers in a stunning multimedia extravaganza. The best places to view the Harbour are at the Victoria Tower on the Taipingshan Victoria Peak, or from the piazza at the Culture Centre or the promenade of Tsim Sha Tsui on the Kowloon side.

Taking a ride at night or daytime on the Star Ferry, a harbour cruise or a traditional Chinese junk to get a unbeatable experience and scenery of energy.     There is no better way to capture the magic of the harbour than by taking a nighttime cruise aboard a ferry where you'll be able to enjoy A Symphony of Lights, the stunning multimedia show featuring more than 40 Hong Kong skyscrapers in a dazzling extravaganza.

Touring the Harbour
Victoria Harbour bustles with activity day and night. As the natural centre of the territory, the harbour has played host to many major public shows, including the annual fireworks displays on the second night of the Lunar New Year. Every evening at 8 o'clock, government introduces a show combined a symphony of lights, audio, lights and pyrotechnics. The fireworks show at every Chinese New Year or other big occasions makes the harbor brighter and more magnificent. These shows and its promenades are popular gathering for tourists and locals alike, which is usually telecast on local television.  

Also recently opened, was the Avenue of Stars, built along the promenade outside the New World Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui. Modeled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it honours the most illustrious people the Hong Kong film industry has produced over the past decades. By the end of November every year, the outer walls of buildings in the central business districts on both side of the harbours are dressed with Christmas-related decorations, and replaced with Lunar New Year-related ones by January.
