Qianling Park

Qingling Park is located on Qianling Hill, which is 1.5 kilometers away from Guiyang city; it is a large park built in 1957. The name of the park was derived from Qianling Mountain that lies in the park area; inside the park, there are clear waters, green mountains, ancient temple and tranquil forests which gives great natural and cultural views. There are eight predominant scenic locations: Sanlingwan, Macaque Garden, Hongfu Temple, Kylin Cave, the Zoo, Qianling Lake, Two-Dam Wind-Rain Bridge, and the Winding Mountain Path.

Hongfu Temple

Hongfu temple is the largest Buddhism temple in Guizhou province, firstly built in 1667. Its name Hongfu means “good fortune” in Chinese. Upon entering the gate, the Bell Tower and Drum Tower on both sides are firstly seen. The huge bronze well weighs more than 3000 pounds, and was cast in 1469 in Ming dynasty.

In heavenly King hall, there are statues of Maitreya Buddha and the four Heavenly Kings, as well as steles of sutra and paintings. In the other halls, there are Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara with 32 arms, Sakyamuni, juuhachi rakan (or the 18 arhats) and even a Jade Buddha from Rangoon of Burma.

Qianling Lake

Qianling Lake is large lake with clear water and steadfast dam. The lake is surrounding by varied plants and really worth a slow walk. On its western bank stands a memorial for the martyrs who died during the war of liberation of Guizhou Province. Every Tomb-Sweeping Day, thousands of people go there to worship the heroes.

Macaque Garden

There are more than 500 macaques live in the qianliang park, due to the forest cover rate of the park and the high mountains. It is rare to see monkeys in wild life in park in China!

Kylin Cave

Inside the Kylin Cave, there are various shapes of stalactites; among them, there is a huge one weighed down like a kylin, a beast symbolizing auspice in China. That’s the name of the cave comes. The cave is noted for its reputation that Chiang Kai-Shek, the leader of Chinese Nationalist Party at that time, captured the patriotic generals Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng at the cave during the War of Resistance against Japan.
