Dongzhai Harbor Mangrove Natural Reserve

The first and largest mangrove reserve in China, the Dongzhai Harbor Mangrove Natural Reserve is located northeast of Hainan Island’s Haikou City. It is a tropical jungle which occupies an area of over 3337.6 hectares. Mangrove trees can be found throughout the jungle. The natural reserve is also home to over 159 species of birds, including many rare migratory birds, which has given the area the name ‘Bird Heaven’. In the winter, tens of thousands of birds can be found in the reserve.
