Day 1Arrival in Shanghai

Welcome to China! Upon arrival at Shanghai Pudong Airport, your local guide will meet you and escort you to check in the hotel. The rest of the day for you to have a relax on your own.

Sites Visited: Shanghai Old Concession Area, The Bund Shanghai, Shanghai Museum

After breakfast, you will start a full day tour in Shanghai to visit the Shanghai Museum, Town God's Temple, Shikumen, Old Concession Area. Then you will have a bird view of Shanghai city on the top of Jinmao Tower and enjoy coastal sight at the Bund of Shanghai. Then enjoy evening relax on Nanjing Road.

Day 3Shanghai/Guilin

Sites Visited: Reed Flute Cave, Elephant Trunk Hill

After breakfast, you will be escorted to the airport for your flight to Guilin. Upon your arrival in Guilin, the most scenic city in China, your local guide will meet you and escort you to visit Elepant Trunk Hilll and Reed Flute Cave.

Day 4Guilin/Yangshuo

Sites Visited: Yangshuo West Street, Li River Cruise

After breakfast at the hotel, our guide and driver will transfer you to the Zhujiang pier to board the ship for Li River cruise (4 hours) from Guilin to Yangshuo. It is one of the great waterways to admire the picturesque scenery along the river sides. Upon arrival at Yangshuo, you will have a stroll along the famous West Street. This is a vibrant place alive with cafes, pubs, restaurants and where many westerners gather.

Tips: Today we kindly suggest you have a larger breakfast at the hotel this morning as the lunch provided on the cruise is less than adequate. The cruise arrives at terminal Yangshuo at around 13:30 to 14:30 according to the different water flows. There are many cafes available in Yangshuo.

Optional activites for late afternoon:
1. Attend a Chinese cooking course in a cooking school
2. Learn Taichi for 1-2 hours.
3. Li River Beer Fish is recommended for dinner.
4. Night show options: Commorants Fishing or Impression Liu Sanjie

A cruise along the Li River from Guilin to Yangshuo is an unforgettable experience for stunning scenery. In Yangshuao, there's something interesting such as lumbering water buffaloes pulling carts or cooling off in the river, fishermen gliding along on their narrow bamboo rafts, and if you're very lucky you might see one of the famous fishing cormorants.

Impressions of Liusanjie performance. The Performance, directed by Zhang Yimou, China's premiere movie director and director of the Beijing Olympics' Opening Ceremony, is made up of hundreds of people and is performed on the Li River with the mountains as the backdrop. It is an unforgettable experience.

Day 5Yangshuo/Longsheng Longji

Sites Visited: Longji Terraced Rice Fields

There are three options for morning enjoyment: Enjoy a countryside biking, a bamboo rafting on the Yulong River and a helicopter tour over Yangshuo.

An afternoon drive (about 2.5 hours) from Yanghuo to Longji Rice Terraces. And then you will enjoy the dusk/sunset view of rice terraces around Zhuang and Yao minority villages. The terraces look like ribbons as they wind from the foot to the top of some hills. The villages feature traditional wooden architecture where no nails are used in construction. The different ethnic minority customs and dress are especially interesting. Stayovernight at Ping'an Zhuang Village.

Day 6Guilin/Longsheng/Chengdu

Get up early to take a morning walk around Ping'an Zhuang Village for a sunrise view of Longji Terraced Rice Fields. After breakfast, you will visit to Huangluo Yao Village to meet long-hair wowen and watch the ethnic performance.

Then you will be transfered back to Guilin for the afternoon flight to Chengdu.

Day 7Chengdu/Dujiangyan

Sites Visited: Dujiangyan Irrigation System

A morning drive about 1.5 hours’ from Chengdu to the Front Mountain of Mt. Qingchengshan, the home of Taoism. The famous Taoism temples are all located in the Front Mountain. Hike about half hour to Yuecheng Lake which lying quietly at the middle of the mountain, then take a five minute Buyun cable car up to the mountain. Then, walk to the mountain top and visit the historical Taoism temples along the way, including Shangqing Temple, Laojun Pavilion, etc. and experience the culture of Taoism and enjoy the fresh air and stunning scenery in the mountain. After arriving at the mountain top, go back along the same way you come.

After the mountain tour, head to the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, which was an irrigation project built in 256BC. The system is still working to irrigate Chengdu plain and it’s the actual reason why Chengdu is called as the “Land of Abundance”, and you will be amazed by the wisdom of ancient Chinese. Stay overnight in Dujiangyan.

Day 8Dujiangyan Panda Volunteer

Meals: B

Today, you will head for Dujiangyan Panda Base to fulfill your life time panda volunteer work from 8: 30 to 16:00.

There are more than 40 giant pandas and 5 red pandas in Dujiangyan Panda Base. During this one-day panda volunteer program, you’ll experience some activities including honorary keepers to clean up bamboos, pick up droppings, wash the enclosures, observe and understand the panda’s status and living conditions; prepare food for the pandas and also experience the fun of making the “Panda’s Cake”; deliver delicious “Cake” and fruits to the pandas personally and understand panda’s feeding habits; watch a panda documentary that shows scientific facts about pandas, to understand how humans protect them, and how we may live in harmony with them; plant bamboos and trees, as well as set up nametags and some more interesting and meaningful activities. After the panda volunteer activities, you’ll receive an official certificate from CCRCGP that proves your love for giant pandas, as well as souvenirs, like a panda badge, a panda T-shirt or a panda club magazine.

After the whole day volunteer experience, you will be driven back to your hotel in Chengdu for overnight.

1. The above arrangements will be adjusted according to the specific situations and the volunteer and panda holding program may be delayed or inaccessible by inevitable requirements, control, and Force Majeure like earthquakes, epidemic...
2. Being a volunteer, you should apply it a week in advance with your Application Form and Health Examination Form.
3. Requirements & Limitations:
(a) Health Examination Form: To do the panda volunteer program and hold a panda at Dujiangyan Panda Base, you need to have a valid Health Examination Form (valid medical certificate and signature which could be applied in your country or in China). Feel free to contact our travel consultant for more information or let them register for you. (This form is to ensure that you are not carrying the infectious diseases or other illnesses which endanger the health of pandas.)
(b) Age & Number Limitations: The center can accept up to 30 volunteers (aged between 12 and 65) at any one time.
(c) Avoid Using Strong Smell: For pandas have keen sense of smell, volunteers should avoid using perfume or other odorous articles like mosquito repellent liquid, nail polish, skin care products, makeups, etc. on the volunteer work day.
(d) Dressing Code: During the panda volunteer program, you are required to wear comfortable shoes, like sports shoes, that are suitable for the work. Try to avoid sandals, slippers, high-heels, and so on. Besides, wear trousers, avoid shorts and skirts, etc. (during the program, the panda base will provide working jumpsuits in spring and winter, and T-shirts in summer and autumn for you.)
(e) Healthy Bodies: To well protect giant pandas, volunteers and panda holders are required to be healthy, and people who are suffering from illness, like a cold, fever, influenza, and other infectious diseases are not suitable to do the panda volunteer or holding programs.

After breakfest, your local guide will escorts you for a morning bullet train (4 hours) to Xian. Upon arrival in Xian, your local guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to visit the Shaanxi History Museum to discover Xian's amazing history. Then you will go on a walk or a biking on the top of Ancient City Wall to get a bird's eye view of this ancient capital. Then visit Xi'an Muslim Street for a relax.

Option: In the evening you may choose to enjoy an Chinese Dumplings Feast and amazing Tang Dynasty Show, which bring the pageantry and music of the ancient Tang Dynasty to life.

Sites Visited: Terra Cotta Warriors & Horses

After breakfast at your hotel, your guide will meet you and you will be driven to visit the incredible Terracotta Warriors. Go on to visit the Daqin terra-cotta making factory see all kinds of models of Terracotta Warriors. After lunch you will be driven to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, where housed in a huge temple complex, the ancient pagoda was built to house Buddhist Sutras brought to China from India.

After breakfest, your local guide will escorts you for a morning bullet train (5 hours) to to Beijing. Upon your arrival, you will go on a visit to Beijing Hutongs - the old lanes and courtyard houses. Take a rickshaw or biking to explore Beijing's charming lanes. The visit to a local family, who've lived in the Hutongs for generations, offers a local perspective of history, and is a highlight of the Hutongs for most of tourists.

Option: Peking Opera for night show and Beijing Roast Duck for dinner.

Sites Visited: The Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven

Your today tour starts with a morning strolling across the world's grandest city central square, Tiananmen Square, witnessed many historical events and significant celebrations through over 500 years. Then you will enter from its south gate to the Forbidden City, the world's largest palace complex where the emperors and his family had once worked and lived.

After lunch you will pay a visit to Temple of Heaven, once a site where the emperors offered sacrifices to the heaven, it is even larger than the Forbidden City. Its main buildings progressing from south to north are the Circular Mound Altar, the Imperial Vault of Heaven and the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest.

Sites Visited: The Sacred Road, Mutianyu Great Wall

After breakfast, you will pay a morning visit to the world's greatest man-made projects, the Great Wall at Mutianyu section, set up as a military fortification more than 2,000 years ago. Then vist the Sacred Road of Ming Tombs and Dingling, an ancient emperor's mausoleum group of the Ming Dynasty with underground palace.

On the way back to Beijing downtown, you will have a stop for an outside look of two famous Olimpic site: Bird Nest (National Stadium) and Water Cube (National Aquatics Center).

Price Includes:

Transportation & Private Transfers:

Transportation cost covers all the domestic airfare of economy class with airport tax, train tickets between the cities as the itinerary specified.

 

Transfer between airports, railway station, hotels and scenic spots for sightseeing around the cities that are specified by the itinerary with private air conditioned vehicle with driver and English-speaking guide. Separate arrivals and departures will incur extra charges.

 

Entrance Fees:

All entrance fees to the scenic spots listed in the itinerary. The final arrangement will be determined by private tour guides depends on the real-time local circumstances wheather are beyond the control of Access China Travel. We will adhere to the original itinerary as accurately as possible.

All normal meals as the itinerary specified: B = breakfast, L = Lunch, D = dinner in local  restaurant. Breakfasts are served in hotel, breakfasts have Chinese or Western style for your option; Lunches are served in carefully selected quality local Chinese restaurants with best service, your lunches will be ordered by your guide catering to your preferences within normal standard. Dinners as the itinerary specified will be also served in local Chinese restaurants. The meal quotation is normalized. If you have any special request about meals, like vegetarian, famous rare dishes, Indian food or more, please inform us in advance. For the unspecified dinners, you will have dinner on your own. Private Sightseeing Escort:

Normal sightseeing activities as the itinerary listed will be escorted with English-speaking guide. The English-speaking guide and driver in each city are with you throughout the entire itinerary around that city. They do not fly with you from one city to another.

Hotel service criterion: two adults share on one standard twin/double-bed room; solo traveler who want to occupy one twin/double-bed room assigned is required for extra single supplement rate.
