Tour Cities:Zhangjiajie

The 5-day essence tour covers the must-see highlights of Zhangjiajie, which boast breathtaking natural scenery with unique shaped peaks, clear waters, dense forests and picturesque views. The highlight of this trip is at the sky walk on the glass plank road, riding the Bailong Elevator and viewing the Hallelujah Mountains.

Day 1Arrival in Zhangjiajie

Arrival in Zhangjiajie (Most flights land in Zhangjiajie from the late afteroon to the evening), your local will meet guide at the airport and then transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your own leisure.

The Xibu Ancient Streets are good place for your evening leisure time, about 2 km from the hotels area of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (Wulingyuan Town). It's a Tujia minority culture and tourist area including a local snacks street, a folk culture souvenir street, and a bar street.

Day 2Tianmenshan National Forest Park

In the early morning, your heart will beat fast at Tianmen Mountain on the worlds longest cable car, the suspended glass walkway almost a mile (1,430 meters) above the ground, and the "99 Bends" mountain road.

Tianmen Mountain is regarded as the 'soul' of Zhangjiajie, Tianmen Mountain is the highest mountain in Zhangjiajie. The views include graceful ancient trees, karst hillocks and long roads that are carved from the sides of the cliff. The cable car takes 30 minutes from the city center to the mountain top and is the longest cable in the world.

Walk the Guigu plank road (around 2 hours) built along the cliff in Biyeyaotai scenic area and enjoy the beautiful views clouds, nearby peaks and so on. If you have an interest, you can walk on the glass plank road which offer “sky walk” experience (with extra fee at rmb 20 /pp).

Tianmen Cave (literally Heavens Gate Hole) is a 30-meter-high hole formed naturally in the mountain like a doorway, well-known for being glided through by a world-class stuntman in a wing suit. To reach the hole, you can climb for about half an hour up the "Stairway to Gate".

Down from Tianmen Mountain, you will start to visit Tujia Ethnic Park after lunch. With an area of over 5 hectares, Tujia Folk Custom Park is originally a summer resort of local Tujia King and now is used to demonstrate Tujia people's history, folk custom, food, Tujia sing and song performance, pictures and more facts. It is a mountainous ethnic garden with a group of Diaojiaolo, wooden buildings of Tujia people's houses.

Day 3Yuanjiajie & Tianzi Mountain in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park

After breakfast, you will be driven about 40 minutes to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in Wulingyuan Scenic Area, where Yuanjiajie and Tianzi Mountain are the two most classical and popular attractions.

Take a cable car up Tianzi Mountain, and you will see large areas of grotesque peaks thrusting up below. Walking along the steps spectacular views unfold in front of you from different angles. Lunch is very simple Chinese style and will be arranged at a local restaurant on the mountain. There is a McDonald’s on the mountain, and if you prefer we can have lunch there, and have a good rest indoors with air-conditioning.

In the afternoon, ride a public shuttle bus to Yuanjiajie Scenic Area, whose mountains are said to be the inspiration for Avatar’s Hallelujah Mountain. This area is the most visited area due to its fame. It takes about 1 hour to walk the tourist trails before you take the shuttle bus for the cable car down the mountain.

There is another option for getting down the mountain — Bailong Elevator. This glass elevator was built on the side of a cliff, and it claims to be the world’s highest of its kind. It takes only 2 minutes, but at peak times you might need to queue one or two hours to take it. If you are interested in taking the elevator, tell your guide in advance, so that he/she can arrange beforehand to avoid the long queues.

Wulingyuan Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve

Day 4Zhangjiajie Grand Canon & World's Record-breaking Glass Bridge

Zhangjiajie is a 56 square-kilometer national forest park inside the bigger Wulingyuan Scenic Area in Hunan province. It's been open to the public since 2009 and is said to have been the inspiration behind the beautiful planet of Pandora in James Cameron's 2009 "Avatar" film.

Adjacent to Wulingyuan Scenic Area, Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is a recently–developed natural wonderland. With a total area of over 60 square km, it has scenic spots of mountains, streams, caves, cliffs, and forest such as Bandit Cave, One Line Sky, The Millennial Rattan, Chuangwang Pavilion, Rotten Ship Rock, Slide-way, Butterfly Spring Waterfall, and Tianhe River Sightseeing Deck.

Now, the highlight of Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is the world's longest and highest glass-bottomed bridge. Spanning two cliffs in the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon area, it will stretch 430 meters (1,410 feet) long and 6 meters (20 feet) wide, hovering over a 300-meter (984-foot) vertical drop. In comparison, the Grand Canyon Skywalk in the United States is 21 meters (69 feet) in length and stands 219 meters (718 feet) above the canyon floor.

The Grand Canyon of Zhangjiajie skywalk will also offer the world's highest bungee jump, stealing the title from Macau Tower's 233-meter (764-foot)-high attraction.


Day 5Furong Town / Zhangjiajie Departure

Meals: B

After breakfast, drive from Zhangjiajie about 1.5 hours to visit Furong Old Town. Furong Town or Hibiscus Town, originally named Wengoun, is an ancient town featured by real Tujiazu ethnic culture, cliff landscape, huge waterfall and river sights.

In the afternoon, you will be transfered to Zhangjiajie airport/train station to your next destination.

Price Includes:

Transportation & Private Transfers:

Transportation cost covers all the domestic airfare of economy class with airport tax, train tickets between the cities as the itinerary specified.

 

Transfer between airports, railway station, hotels and scenic spots for sightseeing around the cities that are specified by the itinerary with private air conditioned vehicle with driver and English-speaking guide. Separate arrivals and departures will incur extra charges.

 

Entrance Fees:

All entrance fees to the scenic spots listed in the itinerary. If you have any special request about meals, like vegetarian, famous rare dishes, Indian food or more, please inform us in advance. For the unspecified dinners, you will have dinner on your own. Private Sightseeing Escort:

Normal sightseeing activities as the itinerary listed will be escorted with English-speaking guide. The English-speaking guide and driver in each city are with you throughout the entire itinerary around that city. They do not fly with you from one city to another.

Hotel service criterion: two adults share on one standard twin/double-bed room; solo traveler who want to occupy one twin/double-bed room assigned is required for extra single supplement rate. A single room is available on prior request at an additional cost; if a recommended hotel unavailable, it will be replaced by one of the same class.
