New Wuling Mountain Walkway Gives Tourists Access to Virgin Areas in Chongqing

The Wuling Mountain range in southwest China's Chongqing municipality is known for its stunning mountains, gorges, waterfalls and ravines. While the area has been named a UNESCO World Heritage site, a large portion of the mountain range was previously completely inaccessible for tourism. Now, thanks to a new cliff-side walkway and bridge, visitors will be able to access the area, enjoying its peaks, winding paths and spectacular views from 1,500 feet high.

The walkway, which is being developed by the Fuling Wuling Tourism Board, is set to open later this month. It stretches through pristine regions of the Wuling Mountain, with its more than 3,000 quartzite and sandstone pillars. The walkway is approximately 2,625 feet long and 1,640 feet above the ground at its highest point. The Wuling Mountain Valley sits below. Mount Fanjing, which is part of the mountain range over which the walkway crosses, is home to the rare golden monkey and is regarded as a sacred Buddhist mountain. Visiting the walkway will give visitors unprecedented access to these incredible sights.
