Xiamen's Tallest Buildings to be Put into Use, Stand at 300 Meters Each

Xiamen Twin Towers, also known as Xiamen Shimao Cross-strait Plaza, are expected to be the tallest buildings in Xiamen. One of the towers was recently capped and is expected to be put into use in July.

The plaza features two 64-floor sail-like towers, standing at 300 meters each.

Construction on Xiamen International Center, a newly planned high-rise project, is expected to be completed in 2017. The project's highest building will be the tallest in the Haixi region (the area west of the Taiwan Strait) with 81 floors and a height of 339.88 meters.

The planned Xiamen International Center will have a sightseeing platform on the top of the building.

The record for Xiamen's tallest building has been handed from one building to another every 4.4 years since 1949. From 1978 to 2015, nine "tallest buildings" were recorded in 37 years, about one in every 4.1 years.

Xiamen's rapid urbanization and improved building technology are two big factors in Xiamen's rapid high-rise development, according to the Xiamen Construction Bureau.
