2016 China-US Tourism Year Promoted in Disneyland Resort, California

On February 8, 2016 (local time), i.e. Chinese Lunar New Year's Day, celebrations of the festival were held at the Disney California Adventure Park, where lights and decorations were radiating happiness. In addition, performances to promote the “2016 China-US Tourism Year” and mark the “Happy Lunar New Year Celebration” took place. The performances with strong Chinese feature were organized by the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles, the China National Tourist Office in Los Angeles and the Disneyland, as part of the efforts to promote the 2016 China-US Tourism Year. Consul General of China in Los Angeles Liu Jian and his wife, Director of China National Tourist Office in Los Angeles Wang Yanjie, and Director of Pacific South Network of US Department of Commerce Richard Swanson attended the activities together with representatives of California Travel & Tourism Commission, Orange County Visitors Association, Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, Disneyland Resort and the media, as well as a large number of visitors. Through pictures of China’s tourist attractions and cultural display, China National Tourist Office in Los Angeles promoted tourism in China to American visitors, and welcomed the Chinese-US Tourism Year and the Year of the Monkey with the guests.

The performances by the Five-continent Troupe from the theme park Window of the World in Shenzhen featured traditional Chinese art forms like song, dance, acrobatics, opera, and martial arts, which fully displayed the glamour of Chinese culture and arts through combining tradition and modernity in a unique form. The great performances with distinct Chinese flavor won lots of applause from the audience, who were deeply impressed by the folk dance featuring the story of the Silk Road, Opera of the Han Dynasty, head-top juggling of the jars, and face-changing show of Sichuan Opera. President of the Disneyland Resort Michael Colglazier praised the Chinese performers for their great performances, and said it is a great pleasure for Disneyland to promote the China-US Tourism Year jointly with the Chinese guests.
