Lhasa tourism booms in 2013

Regional Tourism Authorities in Lhasa Tibet revealed that Lhasa received nearly eight million tourists in 2013  at the end of Feb 2014. And the tourism revenues in the city exceeded 1.34 billion US dollars, up 25.47 percent based on the previous year.

Dong, the Tourism official in Lhasa said Tourism has become one of the leading ecomomic growth engines for the city; and he also figured out that some methods has been taken to attracted travelers in off-peak season, like cutting the entry ticket of Potala Palace by half per person...

He also added that another attraction might be special tourist itineraries, especially during important Tibetan festivals. On march 2nd, 2014, it is the Tibetan New Year or "Losar", there are many tourists will flock to Lhasa then.

Lhasa is the capital of Southwest China's automoumous region, knonwed as the "sun city", which is the cultural and politic center of Tibet. It is also the important starting points for travelers to learn about the culture and history of Tibetans.

Major sites in Lhasa are Potala Palace, Barkhor Street, Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery, Norbulingka and so on. And travelers also drive from Lhasa to Shigatse, Mt.Evereset for indeep explorations.
