Hangzhou, the capital of China’s Zhejiang Province, is famous for its West Lake and Dragon Well Tea. It is a favorite destination with visitors and a dream destination for most Chinese people. West Lake is what draws visitors to the city, but there is so much more that Hangzhou has to offer.


Cuisine:
One of the eight famous Chinese culinary styles, Zhejiang Cuisine is known for its fresh tender and smooth flavors and mellow aromas. The cuisine is known for its elaborate preparations and sophisticated way of cooking, and elegant appearances. Hangzhou, being the capital of Zhejiang Province offers the best dishes from around the province. The most famous dishes Zhejiang Cuisine are; Beggar’s Chicken (a whole chicken cooked leaves in a shell of clay), Sweet and Sour West Lake Fish, Dongpo Braised Pork, and Fried Shrimp in Dragon Well Tea. The dishes are unforgettable and an essential part of any visit to Hangzhou.

Nightlife:
Hangzhou has a wonderful nightlife. It is more refined and relaxed than that of other cities around China. It is a great way to unwind after a day of touring and the unique venues make it an unforgettable experience.

Hangzhou is filled with teahouses selling its famous Dragon Well Tea, along with teas from around China. Teahouses are a great way to soak up the local atmosphere and mingle with locals. There are teahouses for every budget and taste. Some feature live entertainment and others are steeped in Chinese history.

Strolling around West Lake at night is a romantic experience. The lake at night is particularly beautiful and has many lighted paths to stroll along and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Hangzhou has a lot of more hopping night spots. The most famous bar street is Nanshan Road Bar Street. There are bars for every taste. Many feature live entertainment and each are designed in its own unique style, from subdued and romantic, to exciting and fast paced. There are also a large number of coffee shops and Karaoke bars located throughout the city.

The most popular shopping street in Hangzhou is Yanan Road. It is located in the center of Hangzhou and offers name brand fashion, jewelry, and souvenirs. Some of Hangzhou’s best restaurants are located along this road. Many famous buildings are located along the road.
