Huangshan

Huangshan is a prefecture-level city in southern Anhui province, China. Huangshan means Yellow Mountain in Chinese and the city is named after the famously scenic Yellow Mountains which cover much of the city's vast geographic expanse. The urban center of Huangshan was originally the city of Tunxi, and is now called Tunxi District. Locals still call the city Tunxi to distinguish urban core from other parts of Huangshan.

Huangshan's history dates back to the time of the First Emperor. The city's current jurisdiction covers much of the historical and cultural region of Huizhou, which together with Anqing formed the name of Anhui Province. Huangshan is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Mount Huangshan and Hongcun and Xidi, the ancient villages of southern Anhui. It is a leading tourist destination in China.

Famous throughout Chinese artistic history, Huangshan Yellow Mountain represents the typical mountainous landscape in Chinese paintings. Frequently shrouded in mist, the many jagged granite massif peaks clothed in uniquely shaped pine trees appear to float on clouds and create a spectacular landscape of great interest to artists and photographers. The development of walking tracks and cable cars makes this landscape accessible to most active travelers.

Within Yellow Mountains, flora and fauna is featured by over 1,450 kinds of plants and 470 species of animals, fanciful names of Welcoming Guest Pines as one typical example. The mountain is listed as UNESCO world natural heritage wonders for stunning peaks, rocks,pines, cloud sea, sunrise, sunset, ancient villages, Huizhou culture....

Tangyue Village

Home to the largest and best preserved collection of stone gates in Anhui Province, Tangyue Village is filled with history and legends. Outside the town are seven stone gates. Each one was built to honor the achievements and virtues of the Bao Family members.

Tunxi Ancient Street

Located in Huangshan City, the Tunxi Ancient Street has centuries of history. Originally built in the Song Dynasty (960-1279), the remaining shops on the street date back to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

Huangshan Mountain

China has many famous mountains and arguably the most beautiful is Huangshan Mountain (Yellow Mountain). Located in China’s Anhui Province, the mountain range was pushed up from the ancient sear floor over 100 million years ago during the Msozoic era.

Xidi Village

Xidi Village is located near Huangshan Mountain, in China’s Anhui Province. The village was founded in the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) and most of the residences in the village now date back to the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) Dynasties.

Hongcun Village

Located near Huangshan Mountain, the ancient village of Hongcun has remained virtually unchanged for centuries. According to legend, the village was arranged in the shape of an ox.

Ancient Ink Factory

The area around Huangshan Mountain is famous for its traditional Chinese art supplies： Brushes, paper, inkstones, and inksticks are all made in the area. The Ancient Ink Factory is an interesting site for those interested in Chinese art.

Huangshan Shilin Hotel (Huangshan Shilin Dajiudian) is a new 4-star hotel located at the foot of Lion Peak. It's only 5 minutes walk from the sun-rise observation site, half an hour's walk from Yungu Cable-car Station. It's located in North Sea Scenic Area with the background of the Lion Peak. The hotel is surrounded by mountains and pine trees. In the morning you can watch the sunrise, and in the evening you can enjoy the colorful clouds.
