Yuexiu Park

Yuexiu Park, situated in Yuexiu District, is the largest comprehensive urban park in downtown Guangzhou, a perfect blend of natural scenery and profound city history. Covering rolling hills and serene lakes, it serves as a peaceful green oasis in the bustling city centre and is free for visitors to enter.
Its most iconic landmark is the Five Rams Sculpture, the city’s official symbol. It originates from an ancient legend: five immortals rode five rams carrying rice ears to bless Guangzhou, giving the city the well-known nickname “City of Rams”. Perched on the hill stands Zhenhai Tower, also called the Five-Story Tower. Built in the Ming Dynasty, it now houses Guangzhou Museum, displaying over 2,000 years of local history. From the top, visitors can enjoy a panoramic overlook of old Guangzhou.
Wander along tree-shaded paths, discover relics of the Ming Dynasty city wall, and witness ordinary locals enjoying leisure time. If you want to understand the origin story and traditional culture of Guangzhou, Yuexiu Park is an indispensable stop on your travel itinerary.
