Zhongshuge Bookstore

Located on the second floor of Sunac Mall in Dujiangyan, Sichuan, Zhongshuge Bookstore is one of the most stunning literary landmarks in southwest China. Inspired by the local Dujiangyan Irrigation System and Mount Qingcheng, this magical bookstore wins visitors’ hearts with its fantastic architectural design.

Massive arch-shaped bookshelves mimic the stone dykes of the ancient water project. Paired with mirrored ceilings, the space creates an infinite visual effect, just like stepping into a wizard’s library. There is also a lovely children’s reading area decorated with bamboo and panda elements, featuring a wide selection of picture books.
Free to enter, the bookstore houses around 100,000 books. It works with Chengdu Library, so readers can borrow and return books across the city. Besides reading zones, it offers a café and creative cultural products.

It is a perfect stop for tourists visiting Dujiangyan. For better photos, visit on weekdays to avoid crowds and remember not to use flash photography. Blending local culture with modern aesthetics, Zhongshuge is not merely a bookstore, but a dreamlike space where literature, art and Sichuan’s heritage meet.
