Zhaosu Wetland Park
Located in Zhaosu County of Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, Zhaosu Wetland Park is a national 4A-level scenic spot, recognized as the largest and highest-altitude plateau wetland in the Ili River Valley. Winding Tekes River runs through the vast wetland, forming intricate river branches, lush marshlands and scattered grass shoals, framed by rolling grasslands and distant snow-capped Tianshan peaks.
Blessed with well-preserved ecology, the park is home to hundreds of wild birds and diverse plateau plants, serving as a vital habitat for migratory species. Its most iconic highlight is the breathtaking scene of Heavenly Horses galloping across the river at sunset. Groups of Ili horses dash through the shallow water, creating splashing waves and forming a spectacular pastoral landscape deeply rooted in local horse culture.
Visitors can stroll along wooden boardwalks to admire peaceful wetland views, capture stunning sunset photos and experience authentic nomadic customs. Away from urban noise, this ecological paradise perfectly blends magnificent natural scenery with time-honored Tianma culture, offering travelers a soothing and unforgettable journey into the primitive beauty of the Ili plateau.
