Tianma Tourism & Culture Park
Located around 20 kilometers west of Zhaosu County in Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, Tianma Tourism & Culture Park is a national 4A-level scenic spot widely known as the hometown of heavenly horses in China. Rooted in the profound historical story that ancient Wusun horses were named "Tianma" by Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty, this comprehensive cultural park covers a vast grassland area and boasts Xinjiang’s most standard international equestrian venue.
The park perfectly integrates grassland scenery, horse culture and Kazakh folk customs. Visitors can watch spectacular daily equestrian performances featuring speed races, sheep snatching and traditional nomadic horse games, and get close to rare horse breeds including Ili horses and Akhal-Teke horses. The Tianma Museum displays precious horse harnesses, historical records and nomadic handicrafts, vividly presenting the evolution of local horse civilization.
As the main venue for the annual Tianma International Tourism Festival, it hosts grand horse events every summer. You can also ride horses across endless green grasslands, join lively bonfire parties at night, and taste authentic local cuisines. Surrounded by snow-capped Tianshan Mountains and golden rapeseed fields in summer, this scenic spot lets you fully embrace the bold and charming pastoral culture of the Ili grassland.
