Located 120 kilometers outside of Kunming, the Stone Forest is an incredible site. It occupies an area of 400 square kilometers and is covered with karst limestone rock formations. Their bizarre shapes have been formed of millennia of wind and rain. The rock formations do resemble a forest made of stone and small ponds dot the area, adding to its beauty. The area can be explored via paths between the formations and many pavilions offer bird's eye views of the area.
