Hongcun Village, nestled at the southwest foot of Huangshan Mountain in Yi County, Huangshan City, Anhui, is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site (inscribed in 2000) and a national 5A-level scenic area. Founded in 1131 during the Southern Song Dynasty, it has a history of nearly 900 years and is renowned as “A Village in Chinese Paintings” for its stunning integration of Huizhou architecture and waterscape.
Hongcun preserves over 140 well-preserved Ming and Qing residences, showcasing classic Huizhou style: whitewashed walls, dark grey tiled roofs, elegant horsehead gables, and intricate three carvings (wood, stone, and brick).

More than an architectural gem, Hongcun is a living museum of Huizhou culture. The quiet lanes, gurgling canals, and misty mornings create an ethereal atmosphere that has inspired countless artists and poets. As dusk falls, red lanterns light up, casting soft reflections on the water, making the village feel like a dreamlike ink painting.
