Laoshan Mountain Daoism Kungfu

Laoshan Mountain, hailed as China’s No.1 coastal sacred Daoist mountain near Qingdao, boasts a profound heritage of Daoist kung fu with over 600 years of history. Rooted in Quanzhen Daoism, its martial arts trace back to Zhang Sanfeng, who visited Laoshan three times and passed down boxing, sword skills and internal qigong to local Taoist priests.

Master Kuang Changxiu, known as “Flying Legs Kuang”, inherited and innovated the system, founding iconic styles: Xuanzhen Internal Boxing, Xuangong Boxing and Longhua Swordsmanship. This internal school features balanced hardness and softness, fluid stances and distinctive linked kicking techniques, combining combat skills with Daoist spiritual cultivation of qi and mind peace.

Centered at Taiqing Palace, the oldest Laoshan Daoist temple, kung fu training remains part of priests’ daily practice. Listed as provincial intangible cultural heritage, Laoshan Daoist kung fu blends martial power, Daoist philosophy and coastal mountain vitality, drawing global visitors to watch performances and experience authentic Taoist martial culture.
