Weihai International Bathing Beach ranks among Weihai’s top three scenic spots, together with Liugong Island and Chengshantou. Built in 1992, it is China’s first Blue Flag certified beach, a global top eco-label for clean coasts. Stretching 2,800 meters, its fine soft golden sand, crystal-clear seawater and gentle shallow slope can hold up to 100,000 visitors at a time.
Boasting a mild maritime climate, it stays cool in summer and warm in winter. The peak visiting season runs from May to October. Free to enter, it has full facilities: changing rooms, fresh-water showers, lifeguard stations and catering outlets. Tourists can swim, play beach volleyball, or try jet skis, banana boats and sailing. Lush pine woods line the shore, and the white sail-shaped pavilion stands as its landmark. At sunset, the glowing sea sky draws crowds for strolls and photos, making it a beloved summer retreat for families and travelers worldwide.
